It's a very personal work featuring two of the artist's sons.  His youngest, Peter, sits right next to the Marine; his oldest, Jarvis, locks eyes with whom?  His younger brother or the Marine?

The location is genuine, set in Benedict's Garage, a local business in Arlington, Vermont, the Rockwell family's home at the time.
