The Hawkeye Truck Company was founded in 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa. It was there that the “Hawkeye Motor Truck,” was hand-manufactured. This brand eventually become known as the “Rolls Royce of commercial vehicles.”
Only three models were built, ranging between 1-to-3-½ tons. In 1926, a more powerful, 6-cylinder option became available. Early models were made of wood, with the exception of the hood. The frame and all other component parts, aside from the purchased running gear, were built in the Sioux City manufacturing facility, making the Hawkeye trucks the only vehicle to ever be manufactured there.
Hawkeye trucks were used in industry and agriculture. This version is a replica of a 1931 Texaco Delivery Truck for Caleb’s Farm Supply of Lebanon, Kansas. See the fascinating advertising slogan on the front driver's door: "It Pays to Farm with Texaco Products."
The Hawkeye Truck Company ceased production at some point in the mid-1930s. Currently, today only three Hawkeye Trucks are known to exist outside of Sioux City!
